St. Mary’s in the Mountains Vestry Minutes – July 13, 2011

Opened:  6:10 p.m.

Present:  Laura Hunter, Lorrie Scime, Jim Taylor, Helen Eddy, Susan Rand (late) & Betsy McEwen as Chairperson – MDC.

Joys & Sorrows:  Jim shared that Bishop Ely has moved Susan Taylor forward on her journey toward ordination as a priest.

Treasurer Report:  Mid-year pledge reminders will be sent out this month.  Deerfield Food Pantry will receive our annual budgeted donation of $300.  A bequest of $317.05 from Mary Conger has been split between Christian Ed. and the Vestry Discretionary Fund.  The Building Committee is working on a claim for water damage at St. Mary’s.  The Church Pension Fund is available to lay persons who are paid for a minimum 1000 hours of service.  This may apply to Laura Hunter who works for the diocese.

Rock Point Retreat Partial Reimbursement:  Prior to the event, there was not enough time to make a grant request.  The Diocese advised we submit a request after the retreat.  Helen Eddy will handle the reimbursement request by sending a letter & copy of Bishop Booth Conference Center bill.

MDC Report:  Profile wording for calling a Priest in Partnership (PIP) was reviewed.  The vestry unanimously agreed to a minimum yearly base salary of $20,500.  This includes all benefits such as insurance & pension payments as needed.  It is expected that a PIP will serve a quarter - a third of a full time position.

Next Meeting:  Wed. August 10.2011

Adjourned: 7:50 p.m.
